Inspired by the Guinness World Record-breaking book drive held during the 2008 Rotary International Convention held in Los Angeles, California, District 7020 has set its own challenge.to set a new record, and impact a generation.

ROTARY RACE TO LITERACY BOOK DRIVE EVENT

The race is on!

From now until May1st 2010, join Rotarians, their friends and family, in their efforts to collect as many books as possible, to be donated to Rotary only during the conference week: MAY 1 to 7 2010. These books will be donated to those in need both in Jamaica and Haiti.

At the Drive's launch last week, DG Errol Alberga pledged his support for the project. In educating attendees on the diverse and dedicated work that Rotary does, DG Errol spoke of the leadership that District 7020 has taken in the relief efforts for Haiti following the devastating earthquake more than a month ago.

Leadership was also part of PAG Paul Brown's message, as he spoke of the District Conference's importance in building leadership skills in the upcoming roster of presidents, and other possible leaders. Literacy and leadership go hand-in-hand. While the future of Rotary is in our hands, the future of our country lies in the youthn blet's give them a good start.

Literacy is not only the cornerstone of sustainable development, but a core focus for Rotary International. With the help of the entire Rotary family, and friends, we are hoping to raise the level in the fight towards literacy, engaging the national and international community.

How can you help?

Bring at least one book from home "ANY book, in new or good conditionÃÆ'" to donate to the cause. Every book is one step closer to our record-breaking goal.

You can also donate to the cause, which will enable us to purchase specialty children's books, visit the website for more information.

Spread the word! We can't do this alone, so round ups the troops and start collecting!
